The Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug committee (ATOD) is an extension of the Perry County Hometown Health Advocate Team (HHAT). HHAT’s consists of community representatives who have a common interest in improving the health in Perry County.

The purpose of the ATOD committee is to educate the community about the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs as well as to prevent and decrease the use of the substances among the citizens of Perry County.

The primary goal of this meeting is to address the fact that alcohol is the substance of choice among our youth in Perry County, Arkansas and nationally. Underage drinking is a serious problem with terrible consequences…pregnancy, .vandalism, alcohol dependence, violence .

It is important to talk to youth early about the dangers of underage drinking because most try alcohol before the age 13.
